NEW TENDS IN POETRY

IN THE SECOND HALF OF 18TH CENTURY WE HAVE A NEW SENSIBILITY IN POETRY  LIKE THE ROMANTIC POETS SO THEESE POETS WERE CALLED EARLY ROMANTIC POETS.

THE MAIN FEATURES OF EARLY ROMANTIC POETS ARE:

USE OF AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL MATERIAL

EXPRESS A LYRICAL AND PERSONAL EXPERIENCE OF LIFE

RE-VALUTATION OF THE RURAL ORIGINS OF THE COUNTRY

SENSE OF MELANCONY  AND SADNESS

WE HAVE ALSO TWO WAY HOW RAPPRESENT THE NATURE:

-PASTORAL POETRY EXPRESSED THE IDYLLIC PLEASURE OF RURAL LIFEàCOWPER IN "THE TASK" CELEBRATED COUNTRY LIFE AND ALL ITS ASPECTS. HIS MOST FAMOUS EXPRESSION IS: "GOD MADE THE COUNTRY,MAN MADE THE TOWN" SO HE EXPRESS THE IDEA OF NATURE AS A FRIEND AND MORAL GUIDE.

-THE NATURE IS RAPPRESENTED MORE REALISTICALY IN SOME POETS LIKE CRABBE  IN THE VILLAGE OR GOLDSMITH IN THE DESERT VILLAGE .

BUT THE MOST IMPORANT NATURE POET OF EARLY ROMANTIC AGE IS SURE THOMSON.HIS NATURE RAPPRESENTS THE FIRST BRAKE  WITH THE NEOCLASSIC VIEW.

IN HIS RAPPRESENTATIONS WE FIND WILD SCENERIES AND THE CONTRAST BETWEEN PRIMITIVE AND CIVILISED MAN.

IN THIS PERIOD WAS ALSO VERY SUCCESSFUL MACHPERSON  WITH FRAGMENTS OF ANCIENT POETRY WERE HE PUBBLISHED SOME OSSIAN'S WORKS.

THE OSSIANIC POETRY WAS A CYCLE OF IRISH  POEMS OF 3RD CENTURY WERE WE FIND THE CULT OF A SIMPLE AND PRIMITIVE LIFE.,

THOMAS GRAY WIT ELEGY WRITTEN IN A COUNTRY COURT YARD WAS THE MOST IMPORANT POET OF THE GRAVEYARD SCHOOL.

THE POETS OF THIS SCHOOL WERE VERY MELANCHONICAL AND VERY OFTEN POEMS WERE SET IN CEMETERIES.
