Esempi: I am Italian (sono italiano) - it is a cat (è un gatto) - are you Greek? (sei greco o è greco?) - we are not Americans (non siamo americani).

La forma interrogativa negativa è uguale a quella interrogativa con l'aggiunta del 'not' dopo il pronome; esempi: am I not? are you not?

In inglese s'usa to be per indicare l'età e anche in determinate situazioni, come aver freddo, caldo, fame, sonno, sete, stanchezza. Esempi: I am 20 years old (ho vent'anni), I am cold (ho freddo), you are hot (hai caldo o ha caldo), she's hungry (lei ha fame), ecc.
